Manchester Orchestra have been increasingly exploring the cinematic through their sound across their past few releases. ‘A Black Mile To The Surface’ is not only musical perfection, but a loose concept album centred around a small town in South Dakota, whilst ‘The Million Masks Of God’ saw the band grappling with a traumatic period of time in their personal lives, and who they have become following this. As such, it was unsurprising to hear they would be producing a movie and EP that accompany one another, in the form of ‘The Valley Of Vision’; this felt like the ultimate defining creative statement of the band’s recent trajectory, and an important release for the once scrappy emo outfit, now twenty years deep into their career.
